Review Detail

The eyepieces (Orion Sirius) were actually quite good, better than my older Skywatcher brand ones that came with my old 10" dobsonian telescope. The stars were sharp with both 10mm and 25mm eyepieces.

The finderscope was actually great, as it was able to show a telrad like wide-view which i could easily identify the stars. My only gripe was that it was easily bumped off alignment, and viewing through the straight angle eyepiece was very difficult at times. A diagonal here would be benefited the finderscope and package enormously but for the price I guess thats what you get.

Scope Build Quality and Optical Quality

The build quality was quite good, although as a guidescope some paint came off when I tightened the guide rings.

Stars were very sharp in the telescope

Deep sky this scope impressed at f/5.0 and at 80mm (3" /inches) I saw faint nebula clouds everywhere in the sky, when i looked however the light gathering power was not enough in wide-view to get serious details in them except for the Orion nebula which was absolutely stunning!
The Orion nebula, M42 was a very sharp, ghostly mass with wisps of detail in the nebula clouds. The stars in the trapezium were well seen, and very sharp.

Jupiter was extremely bright in this telescope, so much so that the light around it generated a slight halo of blue. Filters would have helped reduce the light and chromatic aberration here.

As a guidescope, this telescope is extremely light, and short allowing ease of balance on smaller mounts. Also you must be careful when taking the scope apart to use it as a guidescope. There are tiny nuts inside after you open the tube, and these can easily hit and scratch the lens inside.

Sadly there is a tiny bubble in the lens that I cant clean off and I believe this was in there from manufacturing. I will try to post an update about this, but it had no effect on viewing.
